Here’s today’s Writing Wednesday Prompt:
The sinister stranger never checked behind him.
(Today’s prompt is a quote from the book I’m currently reading: Illusion by Frank E. Peretti.)
If you write something from this prompt, by all means let me know! Feel free to share what you wrote, if you want!
**If you’re looking for more like this, you might want to check out the story seeds posts I wrote for NaNoPrep a few years ago. They are not specific to NaNoWriMo, and each contains a list of several different types of prompts or ways to generate story ideas. “The sinister stranger never checked behind him. And why would he? An imposing muscular frame that stretched his brown leather jacket to its limits dampened the spirit of pickpockets and rival hitmen alike. Besides, looking over his shoulder at this particular bar would attract the wrong kind of attention. He needed to blend in as a regular customer at this mob-owned business if he had any hope of taking out his target and escaping alive.
He caught himself grinding his teeth, so he took a swig from the long-necked Heineken bottle in front of him, trying to calm his nerves. He’d been in this business a long time, and it was never personal…until today. Today was about vengeance. He didn’t have much he cared about in his life, but Tony One-Eye had taken it all away, and that was a wrong that begged for redressing.
The back door swung open just then, and in walked Tony, flanked on both sides by enormous men in black suits. This was it. The stranger downed the rest of his beer and rose from his stool.”

You paint a clear setting and a hint at a backstory even with such few words. It could definitely be expanded to so much nore. Thanks for sharing!
