Work done:  Revising “Adventures in Pithea.” Naolin accidentally made Evan laugh, then immediately had to jump to Missy’s defense against the same man. I also worked on transferring earlier revisions from paper to computer.

Work done:  Some time was spent writing the sort of mini-plot I started a few days ago that isn’t for this novel. However, I also worked some on the revision of “Adventures in Pithea,” because I know that I can’t just stop completely because it’s more fun to write new material than to edit the old. So now our heroes have found their temporary respite, with some new prodding from Naolin.

Work done:  Some time spent transferring revisions from paper to computer. The rest was writing the sort of mini-plot I started a few days ago that isn’t for this novel. But I’m spending time on it anyway because I want to.

Work done:  Fourth meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We got through 5 paragraphs, which seemed like a lot at the time, but I guess isn’t exactly flying. However, we made it through the rest of the exposition (besides the actual intro, which we skipped for now), so next time we’ll start on the action. I am hopeful that that will go more quickly, but I may be disappointed to discover that it’s no different. As much as I feel the three of us are making the story better, let’s face it, there are over 3000 paragraphs in the whole story. At the rate of 5 paragraphs per week, it will take us 11 years to go over the whole story. I just don’t know what to do about it.

Before the meeting, I also worked more on the storyline I started yesterday, which takes place after this book, but is just so badly needing to come out.

Work done:  I said a while ago that I really wanted to write something new, and I’ve been feeling that way for a while. However, while still plodding through this revision, it wasn’t easy to change gears. Today, I started thinking about a character who is introduced near the end of “Adventures in Pithea,” but who has a much bigger role in a later story, and what would take place between those stories. I’d always just sort of left it as a nebulous “stuff happens and it just works out on its own.” But recently a more specific plan has started to form. And today, I was hit with an idea for a climax, of sorts, to this in-between story, and suddenly I wanted nothing more than to be able to write it down. Of course, as it often goes, getting down on paper what is floating in my head is a lot harder/longer than it seems. All of the important points are in my head, but there are details that have to be filled in. And even though there’s no rule that says I have to get the details out now, I don’t think it’ll keep as well for me later if I don’t get as much of it down now as I can. So this may take a few days. Meanwhile, poor Missy, Naolin, Julius, Evan, and Quinn are stumbling around in the woods, half of them half-dead.

Work done:  Third meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We only got through 3-4 paragraphs in that time, which we all agree is problematic. We may have to discuss in the future what we can do to speed that up a bit.
