I answered the first 17 questions from this list, with Vin in mind. I think he has sufficiently changed even from the realization I gained about him 2 days ago. I had motivation for his actions, but even those turned out to be shallow. Unfortunately, the more I discover about him, the more I fear that I will be unable to write him well.

Question for you: How do you answer the list of questions you linked for a character when you can’t even answer the question yourself?

Actually, I find it a little easier to answer the questions for my characters than for myself. Not all questions that I encounter in lists like this, but this list at least. I think it’s because to answer it for myself, I’d have to really think about what the truth is, but for my character, I’m making it up as I go. In fact, getting from question 1 to question 17, the character changed enough that I probably should go back and change the answer to question 1. And that might be part of what makes it a little easier too–like with NaNo itself, I kept telling myself to not take too long to figure out if it was the right answer or not, but just keep writing and see what came out.
