Daily Challenge Check-in: January 19, 2015
Words: 1036 revising “Adventures in Pithea.” Missy is less accepting of Naolin’s assertion that technology exists out in the world. She’s unwilling to just agree that people are breaking the worldwide tech ban, when it is so highly illegal.
I didn’t do any work over the weekend, because I was gone pretty much all day both days. I took stuff with me to do, but didn’t ever have a chance. Still, at least it was just a weekend, and I made myself sit down to it again today.

Words: 995 written. Nothing story-related, just some dream journaling. There was a lot to write about this time. More than ever so far. It took me half the day to get it all down, because I had to take care of other things, like getting lunch for my 4-year-old. Fortunately, I’d had some pretty vivid dreams that stuck with me long enough to get most of it down. Unfortunately, I had a headache most of the day, so I decided to not push myself to get any revising work in.

An absolutely amazing geek band from Toronto announced today that they were breaking up. It’s been a sad day. Debs and Errol brought a lot to the geek music scene with their enthusiasm and their fun, catchy songs. Though they are parting ways, their music lives on (plus almost 4 years of daily webcomics). Check them out!
Words: 844 revising “Adventures in Pithea.” I’m pretty sure I solved the problem I mentioned yesterday. The smart guy of the group will be able to figure out how to use the technology, but because he gets enough information from the bad guy and from research left behind by the dead scientists in the hidden facility they’re in. Most of today’s ground covered was incorporating that in all of the areas that referenced this situation.

Words: 925 revising “Adventures in Pithea.” I’m still unsure how to incorporate one element that is crucial to the current scene. I don’t know if I should make the smart guy of the group inexplicably able to figure out how to use technology he’s not familiar with (use it in a minor way, mind you, but still, it seems a bit of a leap), or place a prop in the story that would be easy for them to figure out how to use, but seems too convenient (and would be awkward to introduce smoothly). I thought I’d figured it out. Or at least I think I remember thinking I’d figured it out. But now I’m back to not knowing what to do.

After a month of trying to drag myself back to this point, I’m glad I finally sat down and did actual editing work tonight. Hopefully this will be the start of a stretch of work.

Not bad for our first time back after 2 weeks off, and everyone being sick, or getting over being sick.

I did read over and start thinking about a section of “Adventures in Pithea” that I need to work on next, but didn’t focus on it for long enough to call it anything.

I have not had the proper energy level or focus needed to get back to revising, but tomorrow will be the first day back from Christmas break and a normal work week for my husband, and hopefully just normal everything. So hopefully I’ll be able to get back to normal writing work too.
Meanwhile, I downloaded an e-book that was free on Amazon today titled 1000 Awesome Writing Prompts and picked a random prompt to write from. I don’t usually do this, but since it wasn’t related to my series of stories in any way (and therefore contains no spoilers or confusing out-of-context references), in case anyone wants to read the resulting writing, I’m posting it here:
