September 23

Time worked: 2:30

Work done:  Eighth meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We got through almost two and a half pages, so the most so far. Also earlier in the day, I spent a fair bit of time working on notes on our shared document, and in the email conversation we’ve been sending back and forth.

Work done:  Sixth meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We got through 17 paragraphs this time, but I’ll have to stop going by that unit of measurement now. Dialog and action make for short, easy to speed through paragraphs. Comparing the amount we did to previous meetings, it was maybe 1/4 of a page more. In the past, we’ve averaged a page a week, and today we got through a page and a half. That still puts us in chapter 1. We’ll see how things go in the future.

Work done:  Fifth meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We got through 6 paragraphs this time. I’m still not sure what to do to pick up the pace, as we did try something new between the last meeting and this one, and only managed to make it through six. We get stuck a lot on word choices that later (and to an outside observer) seem unimportant, but we can’t all agree without the discussion. Tonight, we even had a bit more argument, which we didn’t resolve and may be picked up again next week.

August 26

Time worked: 2:32

Work done:  Fourth meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We got through 5 paragraphs, which seemed like a lot at the time, but I guess isn’t exactly flying. However, we made it through the rest of the exposition (besides the actual intro, which we skipped for now), so next time we’ll start on the action. I am hopeful that that will go more quickly, but I may be disappointed to discover that it’s no different. As much as I feel the three of us are making the story better, let’s face it, there are over 3000 paragraphs in the whole story. At the rate of 5 paragraphs per week, it will take us 11 years to go over the whole story. I just don’t know what to do about it.

Before the meeting, I also worked more on the storyline I started yesterday, which takes place after this book, but is just so badly needing to come out.

August 20

Time worked:  1:48

Work done:  Third meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. We only got through 3-4 paragraphs in that time, which we all agree is problematic. We may have to discuss in the future what we can do to speed that up a bit.

August 13

Time worked:  1:15

Work done:  Second meeting of the Tri-County Sisterhood of the Traveling Book. Mostly more revelations and explanations, but we did get into the text a little. Enough for some worry about how long this is going to take us. As I told them, though, I do think it’ll be easier, quicker, and smoother once we get into the actual story, instead of the introduction.
